18  Windows XP Assistance / General Problems / start up (msconfig) on: November 05, 2007, 06:01:08 PM
When i go to the start up diaglog box through msconfig i notice programs that are starting up that i dont want to,
some music programs mostly.
I unchecked them to speed up the computer when it starts but there are other programs i don't recognize or know anything about
how can i determine which programs are important at startup compared to those that are not?

as usual, thanks in advance
19  Windows XP Assistance / General Problems / crazy mouse on: October 14, 2007, 08:37:30 AM
I just installed a new Gigaware mouse to replace the old one.
This mouse has a mind of its own. Without me touching it the ponter will take off and either go to the upper right hand corner or the lower left. I went to the control panel but I can't figure out what to do.

 Any suggestions?

thanks in advance

22  Windows XP Assistance / General Problems / XP REMBERING... on: October 08, 2007, 01:40:17 PM
I DONT KNOW IF THIS CAN BE FIXED BUT HERE GOES.
IN THE PAST WHEN I WENT TO A  CERTAIN WEBSITE AND GET PROMPTED TO LOG IN WITH MY EMAIL AND PASSWORD
I WOULD START TYPING AND XP WOULD REMBER THE EMAIL ADDRESS SO I WOULD NOT HAVE TO CONSTANTLY TYPE IT IN.
NOW IT DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE AND I HAVE TO TYPE IN THE EMAIL ADDRESS EVERYTIME, WHICH IS A BIG PAIN.
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT MAY HAVE CAUSED THIS. I HAD IE7 RECENTLY INSTALLED BY MY IT TECH, DIDN'T LIKE IT AND REINSTALLED IE 6. WOULD THIS HAVE CAUSED THIS CHANGE?

THANKS IN ADVANCE AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

28  Windows XP Assistance / Installation, Startup or Shutdown Problems / Re: Excel 2003 on: May 02, 2007, 06:57:34 AM
I just wanted to thank you. Your suggestion worked and got me back into Excel.
I still get an annoying "preparing to install" pop up box everytime I save a folder
but until I can find my disk I will have to live with it.

thanks again

29  Windows XP Assistance / Installation, Startup or Shutdown Problems / Excel 2003 on: May 01, 2007, 09:55:51 AM
I've got a new one.
I use and have Excel 2003. Yesterday I went to click on the Excel icon and a windows installer screen now pops up asking for me to install a disk. Then it goes on to say "SKU13.CAB" cannot be found.

If you need to know I have Microsoft Outlook

Does anyone know what happened and how I can get back my Excel.
I'm desperate

Thanks in advance
