hi, thanks for the reply....but you know what i have already replaced the hard drive it was a seagate hard drive and i have ordered a replacement and it is on it's way but in the mean time i purchased a new Hitachi hard drive and reinstalled a fresh copy of xp. but you know what it works for two days and again the same thing happens, that same error again and after i restart it is the same. i i tried several things and the only way i can start is by doing a reseat of the hard drive and that will be to disconnect the cables from the hard drive and connect it back..... and in that process i have to leave the hard drive out and some times it works fine for tow days after i reinstall the operating system
