I know that this will not fix your immediate problem however to possibly save your-self  future head aches  I would use windows update  pretty quickly.
I noticed that you have Win XP with SP 1 and Internet Explorer could do with and update. SP2 addresses some quite serious security issues

This is take from the FEB 2006 addition of the Australian PC Authority Magazine. DVD Burner LABS

1)- Lite-On SOHW16935 -> $64 -> Labs Winner Top class performance at an unbelievable price.
2)- Plextor PX-740A     ->$249 -> Recommended Great Burner but you pay for it.( bit of an understatment)
3)- LG GSA-4165B       ->$136  -> If speed not top priority the LG has a lot to offer.
4)- Asus DRW-1608P   ->$64    ->Fast quoted speeds are let down a little by performance.
5)- HP dvd640i           ->$97    ->Best of the internal LightScribe drives

I know which one I'll go for half a dozen Plextors Please----sure!

 Prevx Home is not an Antivirus Program it is however a very good Intrusion prevention program If you want a very good AV program give Avast Home Free a go I think you will be pleased. http://www.avast.com/

I use Seagate my self however when I next upgrade will have to give Maxtor

some serious consideration :shock:

Steel, plastic,  bit of  silicon, bit more plastic, glass (monitor),some funny leads, a few buttons,Micro$$$oft code added to get it all to play together most of the time.  :shock: couple of square whirling things,Fans to cool down
couple of broads Mother sister , sound,graphic , netty, Mo-Dom,Ram, Led and CD lets not forget Rom and DVD CMos isn't happy sick of his update antics
put it all together and what have you got

dopey1959 is 100% correct your best bet would be to run windows update
pretty smartly as there are numerous security issues addressed with SP2
as well as a large number of other security related issues  addressed since SP2. If you decide to update ZA please take the time to use  the recomended removal and update procedures
