Ok this is an update on whats going on...

Even with an image drive "daemon tools" and trying to use an ISO... it just doesn't load anything.

example: PROGRAM: SimCity 2000.

I go to run, open the ISO's CD contents, try to load setup.exe... nothing happens.  Its the same exact problem I get if I insert any software in the cd rom.  When i go to task manager, I get these two new tasks: wowexec.exe and setup.exe. BUT, unlike the rest of the processes, these two have a SPACE at the front of the process.  Wtf.

I'm lost... I have no clue what to do anymore at this point.  I've got a computer that wont let me install programs.  I know its not a software issue, because I reformatted my HDD several times, updated the drivers, and updated to SP2 for XP.  I'm running out of options here.  Next step is a whole new computer.

"SYSTEM ERROR

The request to end the selected 16 bit task has timed out.  The Win 16 Subsystem may be unstable.  Press OK to terminate the Win 16 subsystem or cancel to leave it running"

If its just me and you talking these days... why don't we just IM?  I would have figured this site would be loaded with members due to how buggy the OS is.

Finally tried it for the first time, and realized how much hell WMP 11 really is.

Anyone else waste their time on this terrible piece of coding?

this happens with every cd.  But, in safe mode, some cd's will install.  It aint the CDrom drive, i've got a backup and it still does the same thing.

Here is yet, ANOTHER problem

I've tried everything yet again, and everything didn't fix it.

after reformatting the hdd and installing xp on a "fresh" hdd, I am having problems with EVERY cd i put into the drive.  It tries to load the setup, but never successfully does.  I'm starting to think that something is wrong with the MOBO.

Every driver is up to date... I've run out of ideas.
12  Windows XP Assistance / Hardware & Plug-in Equipment / Re: new mobo, processor, vid card, ram = BSOD on: February 15, 2007, 11:17:00 AM
oh dont worry... I solved my own problem.

Learned that XP doesn't allow all that upgrading and expect it to work.  what a joke.  Bought a new hdd and used the other as a slave, installed xp back on the new hdd.  Glad to see the microsoft boys are

Dono what we did wrong, followed the destructions to a T.  But every time we tried to boot it up, it'd get to the black windows screen, instantly flash bsod, then reboot... over and over and over.  Not once did we get it to boot.  3 hours later, we figure we'd throw the stock stuff back inside.  Now bios wont even load!  What the heck could possibly go wrong?  I have never had a problem upgrading a machine, but this one is way beyond me.  its going into a computer shop tomorrow to get them to fix it.
14  Windows XP Assistance / Security-Virus/Spyware / Re: h91746.exe and ldcf83.tmp on: June 15, 2006, 10:43:42 PM
was a whole total loss.  Had to reformat and start from scratch.

57 viruses and countless other infections going on at the same time was just WAY too many to destroy.  Every one of them kept reproducing itself.  Just cant stand how unstable microsoft OS's are.  If it weren't for a OS monopoly, and other software support, the choice would be linux. cry2
15  Windows XP Assistance / Security-Virus/Spyware / h91746.exe and ldcf83.tmp on: June 13, 2006, 07:11:31 PM
I have tried to delete these files and move them in quaranteen, but I can NOT get rid of this virus.  I've googled for advice, and no one can give any good advice.

I've tried using ad aware, registry mechanic and avast to get rid of it but it always comes back.  How the heck do you get this one to be GONE for GOOD?
