1  Windows XP Assistance / Internet and Networking / Problems with differing ISP's and email servers. on: January 23, 2008, 02:26:32 PM
I've had a problem after changing from dialup to different broadband - but keeping my old email addresses.

The new ISP doesn't like it and it stopped emails .. even though they were installed as new accounts.

Apparantly, it can be cured by clicking on tools/accounts/mail, highlighting the account with a problem. Open the servers tab and make sure the box at the bottom labelled "server requires authentication" is ticked.

It took me 2 hours .. but job done.

3  Windows XP Assistance / Internet and Networking / one window at a time ... on: January 22, 2008, 02:02:24 PM
when I minimise or go back to the desktop to open a different web site, the new site takes over the previous web page. I have to use the back button to review the original web page.

This means I only have one window open at a time - defeating the object of Windows.

The only thing that has changed recently is a new broadband connection and Norton. Any thoughts out there? Is this an easy fix?
