31  Windows XP Assistance / Internet and Networking / Re: log in to https not working on: November 29, 2007, 01:46:03 PM
ok i read though http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers/17.html and http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/tweak2.htm...

the first isnt quite my problem cause it seems like im adding things to a allowed list. my logic is i didn’t have to customize any setting initially. so why should i now? so is there any way i could reset ie and it would work?

the second site was way above my head

i hope that narrows it down a little for you  glupek2

ok so as you might have said resetting ie didnt work and i kind of realized this half way though cause im having the same problem with fire fox darn still stuck!

32  Windows XP Assistance / Internet and Networking / log in to https not working on: November 28, 2007, 07:14:05 PM
well i went from comodo 3 back to the standard windows firewall (because causing system insability) and now i cant seem to get on to say.... yahoo mail log in screen or to pandora, i thought it was too busy but then tryed it (the mentioned web sites) on another computer and works fine.

i looked around the fire wall settings and added firefox and ie to the allowed progarms list. (or some thing to that effect) and still no work

ps whats a good free blog site?

36  Windows XP Assistance / Hardware & Plug-in Equipment / Re: network adapter not in device manager on: September 14, 2007, 01:02:28 AM
well i got it to work i found the right driver in a pile of disks yay

how ever im trying to find the right driver for my comp. isnt there a automated way to install drivers from the internet through the device manager?

the screens refresh rate is real low and if i use the driver supplyed on the disk it dosent seem to work.

the windows xp logo comes up (the low res one with the blue loading bar just below it) and then the screen just flickers and goes dead promptly after so i cant tell where i am and i end up just killing the power to the computer.
37  Windows XP Assistance / Hardware & Plug-in Equipment / Re: network adapter not in device manager on: September 09, 2007, 02:54:21 PM
its worth at least looking through, cause this seems like a challenging problem.

 thanks for the wisdom 64
38  Windows XP Assistance / Hardware & Plug-in Equipment / Re: network adapter not in device manager on: September 07, 2007, 02:53:46 PM
ok i checked the system 32 folder i cant find any thing that seems right also on the website it says

"Download the self-extracting archive and run it. When you run it, it will extract the files to a temporary directory, run the installation wizard, and remove the temporary files when the installation is complete. All language files are embedded in this archive. You do not need to download an extra language pack.

NOTE: Refer to Readme.htm for installation instructions for extracting the files Without Installing."

i used search in windows to find: self-extracting archive, Readme.htm, temp, and install wizard.

i have know idea
39  Windows XP Assistance / Hardware & Plug-in Equipment / Re: network adapter not in device manager on: September 03, 2007, 12:28:10 PM
i got it to my computer and a window pops up and it extractes the files

this is all in about a second the only way i could read it is after i took a screen shot of it

i get a beep from the computer

dosent tell me where there extracted to or at least cant read it

in reading the pc wizard screens i dont have a "ras connection"

D-loaded the one you told me "Windows* 2000, XP, and Windows Server* 2003"
40  Windows XP Assistance / Hardware & Plug-in Equipment / Re: network adapter not in device manager on: September 03, 2007, 03:15:48 AM
so i went in to go pull out the card to try and reset it manly
only on closer inspection i realized there is no card
it seems to be attached to a bunch of usb ports and the mouse plug area i know even less of hard ware than i do of software soo yea i think the big green board that every thing is attached to is the motherboard any way it seems like the Ethernet cord plugs almost directly in to the motherboard there is a small 1''x1.5''x.5'' silver box right where the cord plugs into and there doesn’t seem to be any easy way to detach it

but there is something there, so says pc wizard

just some more info

44  Windows XP Assistance / Hardware & Plug-in Equipment / Re: network adapter not in device manager on: September 02, 2007, 03:42:52 PM
i have no network any thing. definatly not. theres no way its not there though. i have no idea why it wouldnt show up, cause it is connected to the comp cause before i reinstalled windows. i had things in controllpannel/networkconnections

now nothing and it says i dont have the network stuff there by it being not present in the devicemanager list

i have a drivers cd last time i reinstalled windows on this computer i didnt need a diffreent cd so its the only one i need

45  Windows XP Assistance / Hardware & Plug-in Equipment / Re: network adapter not in device manager on: September 02, 2007, 12:22:34 PM
i have a add hardware im sure its the same thing, mind you this is version mswindows professinal version 2002 sp1

so i went to add hardware and it does its little scan but nadda, the only thing there that looked like or even reminded me of a netadaptor was ethernet controller. ill figure out how to post screens in a sec and put the device manager up if it would help.
