1  Other Operating Systems / Windows Vista / vista beta2 on: July 08, 2006, 07:21:34 PM
Hello,

This might sound really dumb but i've downloaded vista beta2, burnt it, and now I'm wondering if I need a key for installation.

the link........http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/preview.mspx

There isnt a link anywhere for a product key at that download site. Am I too late or what? Could use a link if at all possible.
Could someone please help me out on this or am I too late?

The advanced aspects of the mixer device may be activated from dedicated buttons which must be activated through a toggling menu command. That is, the user must have advanced knowledge of the application to be able to operate the mixer's advanced features. It is unfortunate, that some of the advanced features may still remain hidden from those end-users, who only rely on the system supplied mixer application. This is the case with the Front Rear Balance control of the SoundBlaster Live! example, which remains hidden in the Advanced controls dialog.

this dialog was on top of the bass and treble picture. It states that you have to have advanced knowledge of the application to be able to operate the mixer's advanced features(bass and treble?). Whats the big secret?

Hello,

I gotta question, how do you access the bass and treble controls of Windows Sound Volume Mixer. Since day one I havent figured this out. Now I'm not saying I can't find the controls, I know where they are, what I'm asking is how do you turn them on so you can adjust them.
I just got off the net, and can you believe that I found a site that wanted me to subscribe(PAY MONEY) to find this out!! Oh Lordy That Would be the DAY! I'd phone Bill before I'd pay for that. Ahh Mr.Gates I got a major problem here, could you please tell me what to do so I can adjust the bass and treble on my Windows XP Pro, that i payed for.

well I tried the repair install idea but I think its just bypassing the repair question and jumpin to a new install. But I did install the Recovery Console after that. I wonder if that would save my but? If i cant use sfc or do a repair install looks like this puppy is goin down sooner or later. Since i installed the recovery console will i be able to do a repair install? sorry im a newbie i need help, lol.

essexboy,

If your sfc /scannow is working, I want to compare four values.

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup
ServicePackSourcePath>D:\
SourcePath>D:\
InstallationSources>D:\

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
SfcQuota>0x00000000 (0)

My values just don't seem right to me. Could you give a rundown of your values to compare?

essexboy,

well it is a slipstream disc, one that i didn't create, so i was just thinking ahead as i like to use sfc. i do a lot of downloading. movies mainly. i use NOD32 anti-viruse and it does a great job, but as you know no anti-viruse is 100%. And viruses go after windows. I prefer sfc rather than doin a repair install. Im not sure i could even do a repair install with this cd.

I think it is working because it is comparing d:\basedir with d:\targetdir.
But this isn't the correct setup. Whats the proper setup in my registry for sfc? I need some instructions please.

that would be illegal, but what i really meant was an "unattended install" cd. I just found a guide at this link  http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/2/SESSID=10f4ab162b115b301f411e008c88971d/
This is awesome. cd key is automated, your software is installed at the same time. all updated. all your customizing and tweaking is done. This would make quite the bootable install cd don't ya think!
