Not that I know of. But as you can only be active on one window at a time, using Alt+Tab isn't going to be any different to all windows being displayed.

Winkey+M - minimise desktop.
Alt+Tab - open any running application.

You have a clock in the Notification Area always visible.

Check a few things out before reinstalling the printer.

Is the system performance satisfactory?

Do your most used programs all work well?

If everything looks good - then try installing the printer and see what happens.

PS - you might want to try the option the MS power toy version of the XP Clear Type Tuner:

When I first changed to an LCD screen, I was disappointed because, as you've found, the display isn't as good as a CRT screen.

There's some things you can do to improve it though. If you have DVI connections on both the screen and the PC, try using that instead. You may need to consult the manual for your monitor in setting it up.

The other is to turn on ClearType:

You should also set the PC resolution to match the optimum for the monitor.

Right now, I have no idea what the problem is. I get the same thing.

I'll send a message to the owner and see if he can sort it out.

My advice is - wait for Essexboy and get the basic system sorted first. Then deal with the printer.

For the time being, uninstall the printer and any associated software.

55  Welcome To The Forum / News and Announcements / Re: SITE TO CLOSE on: March 26, 2008, 01:28:39 PM
Due to mysterious goings-on, the site closure didn't happen.

However, despite the rent being paid, there's still plans to move to new premises in the not too distant future. We'll make sure everyone knows in advance though.

Well hello to you Kabith - even if it's a bit late.

I'm not going to say a word about you 'pinching' my signature, no I'm not.
57  Windows XP Assistance / General Problems / Re: Unable to delete file folder on: March 26, 2008, 04:00:07 AM
The file or folder may contain invalid characters, even though they may not appear in the filename.

Solution:
Create a temporary folder, copy the file or folder’s contents to it and delete the old folder’s contents by pressing CTRL-A and pressing DELETE. Restore all the files except the improperly named one to the old folder. Use a single-character wildcard question mark to replace the invalid character (i.e. to rename a file named *eadme.txt, type ren ?eadme.txt readme.txt).

The Altiris Local Recovery (ALR) software provides local-drive backup support by saving copies of files in a "snapshot" that can be easily restored should files be deleted or become corrupted. ALR also takes a snapshot of a user's system and settings so the system can be restored to any saved working state, while preserving current data files.

It's provided on a Compaq computer.

There's at least another two years before any decision may need to be made.

Bear in mind that there's still people out there using Win 98 (and maybe 95 too) and Win ME. No need to panic yet.

igfxtray.exe is a process which allows you to access the Intel Graphics configuration and diagnostic application for the Intel 810 series graphics chipset.

SetRefresh.exe - a Compaq file that isn't crucial to running Windows. Removing it from startup may improve performance.

hkcmd.exe is installed alongside Intel multimedia devices and allows configuration and diagnostic options for these devices. This program is a non-essential.
