HELLO THERE,
sorry, caps lock.. I'm looking for a workaround for a systemfile-checking WITHOUT the xp-cd( I don't have one and I can't get one!).
Is it for instance possible to use the cd from someone else?
My COM+ is not working properly(snapins can't get initialised) and re-installing com+ didn't solve it.
On the update- site of Microsoft there's one update for .NET that I cannot get installed; complaints about my runtime libraries.
Another probably related issue is that I miss the part where you can see the dependencies of a service.I can send you a picture if you like.
help?
thanx\pavluv cry2

You CAN use another XP CD for a repair install of Windows - as long as you have the valid XP code sticker on the case of your PC.

You will need to download all the updates to Windows after a repair install, and you may need to reactivate.

Squeeze,  I'm sad to tell you that it did NOT work for me: Windows did accept the cd, never asked for a code, repaired(?) my files,... and failed to start explorer. With my recovery disk of Ghost I could replace explorer with my old one, so it worked again. Even worse, the things that needed repair, ARE NOT REPAIRED!!
So what to do now? cry2

I'm guessing that you didn't follow the right procedure. Especially if you weren't prompted to enter the code. Did you boot up to the XP CD?
