Is this another new layout? Slow down guys, I was just getting used to the other one! And I have to keep logging in each time! AND the introductions topic is gone AND this menu bar is very annoying, every time I change a page it comes back??? You have a link for the window and menu bar at the top and at the side? Whats the point? Even if I close it it comes back? Senseless if you ask me and I would prefer to have a full page anyway??? Moan moan moan...glupek2

Not happy today! Atall atall!  ycry cry2

The reason for the changing layouts is that Jason has been working (long and hard) to sort out functions that don't seem to work properly (if at all). Various changes took place after things went a bit pear shaped.

What you need to do now is change your profile to a theme that you like. At the same time as you change the theme, set the date format, the time zone (let the board adjust automatically for you) and other preferences.

The theme that I have found I prefer is 'Classic YaBB SE Theme' with the fine tuning set to show latest posts and personal messages at the top. Try it.

Try all the themes and choose the one you like best.

We will do our best to not break the board again so that, once you've set up your preferences, it will stay the same.

On the logging in, make sure that your setting is to 'forever' and you shouldn't need to log in again unless you choose to log out, or disconnect from the Internet. I tend to log out when I have finished a session in here, so I wouldn;t notice if that function has gone down the pan. Come back and let me know if you are still having problems Strum.

At your service.

PS - I'm going to move this to the Forum Help section.

PPS - I have tried logging in as an ordinary member and the Introductions forum is there, where it should be. Don't know why you didn't see it, the permissions for that board are correct. Check again and let me know if it's still missing.

Sorted Dave thanks!
Sorry I woke up a bit cranky yesterday waiting to get rid of tree tops. Bloke with a yolk is here now getting rid of it. Original quote €500, this bloke €250! I'm doing well. I will make €650 after all!

Oh yeah. When I reply to some posts it goes back to the topic list rather than the end of the thread I have posted in and the link at top for "home" only refreshes the page in forums so the only way to get to the main page is to change the address in the address bar!
And as for the introductions all I can see is this in the forums list...

I'm just saying that once in the forums there is no way out...like no link to the main page...
Cheers!

Hiya Cranky!

I don't know why you don't see the full forums listing, I do when I log in via my other (regular account). Obviously, you must be able to see the Introductions and other sections at some point because you have been able to reply to posts. Make sure that you have your browser scrolled to the top, and try clearing the cache, then reloading the page.

In your profile settings you can set it to "Return to topics after posting by default". Experiment with the options until you get what you want.

You are right that the main site is not available if you've gone into the forums one method. There are two buttons on the main page for 'Forum'. The top button is an embedded forum, you see the main site all the time that way:

http://www.fixmyxp.com/  (Main site.)

http://www.fixmyxp.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,203/ (Embedded forum)

Or, full display via the second button:
http://www.fixmyxp.com/forum/index.php

It is through the last method that you don't have any route back to the main site and index.

Hi Dave, I only get to the introductions through email links. The topic is not listed in the forums like in the screenshots above. I'll fiddle around in the profile and stuff as suggested and will be back!
Cheers!

Strum look at this screen shot

If you can see welcome to the forum click on that and it should openup the forum rules intro etc.

Then once you have that up

Click fixmyxp.com forums that should then keep the part you are missing there next time you sign in.

let us know if that works.

OK, here's my look before I log in ( http://www.fixmyxp.com/forum/index.php )

Then after I've logged in.

Then the settings in my profile (note the board theme I've chosen.

Are you seeing anything different using the link above to to get to the forum?
Just in case, this was using Firefox, I usually log in using Opera.
