DVD playing problems in Windows medial
«

Hi guys,
Dunno if anyone can help, but I find that playing dvd's in win media 10 . Either the original dvd or copied dvd ,plus videos on net the sound is distorted, sort of missed every so often. Now the strange thing is when I play the downloaded and or original dvd's on a dvd player all is ok...So the dvd's must be ok...There's gotta be something wrong with my computer or windows media 10. Any help or suggestions please.

It could be a faulty sound card, the drive in your PC needing a clean or maybe in need of reinstalling/updating sound card drivers.
Are you able to play audio CD's without problems?
Are you able to play the MS sample sound files OK?

I would suspect your drive isn't performing well, but Don is the 'expert' on Media Player, so we need him to get involved here.
Don????

Thanks Dave,
Will wait until Don arrives, by the way I did update driver to sis 630/730 yesterday from sis...but I didnt think this was the prob as it was occurring before this..I think it was called a "display adapter".

Hi have you installed all the updates for media player 10 if you have then it sounds like a codec is not installed properly.
Also I have just dumped media player 10 for media player 11 (beta) it is a lot better.
If none of the above options are open to you, have you tried real player 10, I can recommend it.
Meawhile will try and find out what is causing your problem.
If it comes down to it you may have to uninstall media player completely take all traces of it off you computer, and reinstall it including all updates.

Bet you're glad we didn't go with my initial 'instinct' of it being a hardware problem. I think the next thing to do is check you have appropriate codecs:
Check to see if Media Player layer has a compatible video decoder :
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=DE1491AC-0AB6-4990-943D-627E6ADE9FCB&displaylang=en
Download a suitable decoder:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/mp10/getmore/plugins.aspx#DVDDecoder
The links apply to MP 10, but they are are also referred to from MP 11 (beta) on the MS site.

Hi guys,
sorry but back again...thought I had it all solved, ie Dvd sound and picture playing up.I deleted my cyberlink, my wmp, my nero... and re set them in the hopes that it would solve things...but no...Now I'm only a novice at this , so wont be able to get into too much geekstuff...if there is something simple I can do fine, please let me know..Otherwise I will just accept things as they are. Just to recap....one program will play sound but no picture and one will show picture and no sound, and one plays picture with distorted sound..I also downloaded VLM programme, but I couldnt work out how to use it..lol..Oh well , such is life....... :dohhh:In the meantime I would just like to say thanks to you guys...
