Article: Disabling Blue Screen Of Death Auto Restart
If you are experiencing system instabilities whereby your computer spontaneously reboots, you may be presented by a blue screen prior to the reboot. This is what's known as a "Blue Screen of Death" or BSOD for short. The purpose of the BSOD is to display information about the error that occurred. Oftentimes, the system will reboot automatically without giving you sufficient time to read the error information. The following instructions describe how to disable the auto-reboot behavior. This will give you enough time to read the error information on the BSOD without the need to trawl through system event logs.

Click the 'Start' button in the task bar- then click 'Run' and type "sysdm.cpl" (without the quotes) and press 'OK'.

This will open the System Properties window. In the System Properties window click on the 'Advanced' tab. Under 'Startup and Recovery' click the 'Settings' button.

Now in the Startup and Recovery window, under 'System Failure' remove the check form the 'Automatically Restart' checkbox.

Next click 'OK' then click 'OK' in the System Properties window for the changes to take effect.
