Hello everyone,

First time post so bear with me.  My desktop PC (Sony pvc-rs 430g) is hooked up through a D-Link router (DI-614+) for my wireless network. I would like to have  my printer (HP psc 2410 xi all in one.) network to the 4 other computers ( 2 desktops and 2 laptops.) in my home.

First attempt through my wife's and my personal laptop using Xp's  printer setup wizard  failed.   When told to browse for network printers wizard does not recognize my HP.   The option of entering the printers address/name or url is available but I am unfamiliar where to find this info.

What to do next?

Any comments appreciated,  Thanks.

The first thing you need to is setup printer sharing for the printer itself.

Right-click on the printer icon in Printers and Faxes (from the Start Menu).
Choose Properties.
Then click on the Sharing tab.
Follow the wizard prompts.

How are your 4 computers set up?  Are they networked?  What is the domain that they are on?

In the printer setup when you add a new printer, if you want all 4 pc's to be able to use the network connection to get to the printer, then you will have to reference the Domain Name when setting up the printer (If the domain name was HOME and the printer name was PRINTER1, then you would use the Add New Printer Wizard and select Network Printer, then for the location type in \\HOME\PRINTER1 ).

If you don't want to use the network, the only other alternative is to hard wire each pc to the printer.  This would probably mean that you would have to buy a Switch and some cables to run to all 4 PC's.
