Having recently altered my boot.ini file (I was optimising xp for my dual processor) nothing is 'broken' except that now on every startup I am given the 'choose which operating system you wish to use' dialogue (ie like the safe mode F8 dialogue). How do I disable this?

Without knowing how you altered your boot.ini, it's going to be difficult to answer you.

You could restore it to what it was before, of course.

Go to MY COMPUTER > RIGHT CLICK and select properties
Go to the ADVANCED tab
Select START UP AND RECOVERY
Remove the tick from TIME TO DISPLAY LIST OF OPERATING SYSTEMS
Select OK
Reboot

Success

My pleasure good sir, when you have reformatted and run multiple os's as I have it then sort of becomes second nature.  But of course if I didn't mess with my system then I wouldn't have to    But I have learnt sooooo much    Have a nice day y'all
