Hi again

I decided to upgrade my hard drive from 2 separate ones to one big one, from 60gb to 300gb.  quite impressed myself by installing it, getting the computer to recogise it etc but I can't get the OS to install on it.  when it boots up it says NTLDR is missing, press Ctrl Alt Del to restart, and goes round in circles from there. Any ideas

Actually, the cause could be one of several including a new disk that hasn't been formatted.

The link is good though, and covers different causes.

Hi.

The link was great and I have been down and got another ribbon which now makes it work so far, I have got rid of the error message and it asks me to put the os disc in, but it does not recognise it.  I even thought that aybe it was the XP disc it did not like as I do not have the original, although I have my original key, so i went to reinstall windows 98 se, which I do have the original discs for, but it does ot recognise them either.  I have set the BIOS to boot from the CD drive but it stil will not play.  I think I am going to end up at the computer repair shop again, I must stop playing with things I don't understand.

From what you've said, it's possible that your CD drive is faulty.

Do you have access to another CD drive to try?
