My apologies if this was already posted, I did a search for ddos and the result turned up 0 matches.

Ok so the main thing I would like to talk about is the DDOS (distributed denial of service) attacks I keep getting. From what I gather, it happens when a host uses a network of zombies to overwhelm the victim by sending packets creating a mass volume of traffic. A malicious "Bot Code" is planted in every zombie computer, the "Botnet", to carry out these attacks at will. This is generally what I've gathered while looking for information on DDOS attacks. What I don't get, is that these types of attacks seem to be more network oriented, with purposes of overwhelming entire networks. However I am not a part of any network, just use a home pc.

These attacks happen any time I attempt to launch online games. When I load up Steam to play day of defeat or counter strike, or when I load up Battlefield II from EA games is when it happens. I can use the internet and email just fine but Im wary because I know that the code is still in my PC somewhere. I have tried to find ways to identify and remove it, or fix whatever vulnerability it is using, for some time with no luck. All I could find so far is hardware for network protection that costs over $10,000. I have ran every cleaning option in System Mechanic 6 Professional, Kaspersky AV, Adaware Se Professional and most recently Nod32, all in safe mode. I even did a multi pass magnetic wipe of my entire hard drive that is, according to the program, compliant with US Department of Defense standards. I just cannot find a way on my own to defeat this.
