I've got a advent Pentium 4 3.6ghz computer and as i was deleting allot of programs off add or remove programs last night it went haywire restarted then it keeps coming up "please reinstall file root/system32/dll." its missing loads of files now and the recovery disk i got that comes with advent computers is useless it gets to 11% then goes "file problem" i click ok for about an hour on 11% it goes up to 70% and the computer just shuts off

I'm wondering would it be possible to install windows on my 20gig mp3 reformat that to  NTFS and run windows tho a usb from my mp3...

if i had a windows xp disk i would be able to run windows from the files on the disk it self right? so where can i also download windows xp then i'll just use the program online to update my cd key to the one that came with the advent it self

How do i burn a iso to a disk i just copy and pasted it last time and it couldn't read the file but im useing this active@ ISO Burner now then do i just stick that in me pc thats not working>

how do i put windows xp on my mp3 and boot off that? is that possible

INTRODUCTION
If your computer uses an Intel x86-based processor, and the startup record for the active partition or files that you must have to start Windows become corrupted, you may not be able to start your computer. This article describes how to create a startup disk. With a startup disk, you can start your computer if the startup record becomes corrupted.
MORE INFORMATION
Create a Windows startup disk when you first install Windows on the computer. This disk is different from an MS-DOS startup disk. Unlike MS-DOS, the whole Windows operating system cannot fit on one floppy disk. A Windows startup disk contains only the files that you must have to start the operating system with the remainder of the Windows system files installed on the hard disk drive. To create the startup disk, follow these steps:
1.   Insert a blank floppy disk in drive A, and then format the disk by using Windows XP.
2.   From the root folder of the system partition of your hard disk drive (for example, C:\-), copy the following files to the floppy disk:
Boot.ini
NTLDR
Ntdetect.com
You may have to remove the hidden, system, and read-only attributes from the files.
3.   Restore the hidden, system, and read-only attributes to the files on your hard disk if you removed these attributes.
4.   If the Bootsect.dos file or the Ntbootdd.sys file resides in the system partition, repeat steps 2 through 4 to copy these files to the boot disk.
If you format a floppy disk in Windows XP, the startup record points to the NTLDR file. When NTLDR runs, it loads the available operating system selections from the Boot.ini file. If you select Windows, NTLDR runs Ntdetect.com, and then passes control to Osloader.exe. If you select MS-DOS or OS/2, NTLDR loads Bootsect.dos.

Root folder means the files will be at
C:\Boot.ini  etc.

NTFS and run windows tho a usb from my mp3...
very doubtful

Have you tried a repair install rather than full install.   Details here http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

I am confused by what you are doing...I will try to just start answering some of the questions you asked...

....I'm wondering would it be possible to install windows on my 20gig mp3 reformat that to  NTFS and run windows tho a usb from my mp3...

First, I wouldn't recommend doing this but Yes this is possible as long as your motherboard is able to boot from USB (older motherboards usually don't let you boot from USB).   You can check by going into your BIOS and seeing if you can select USB in your Boot Order.

How do i burn a iso to a disk i just copy and pasted it last time and it couldn't read the file but im useing this active@ ISO Burner now then do i just stick that in me pc thats not working>
This is not possible with the standard windows xp cd burning.  You need a program that can burn Iso's (for example:  Nero )

how do i put windows xp on my mp3 and boot off that? is that possible

As I said above, I wouldn't recommend doing this if you ever plan on detaching the device.   YOu really should have your important system files on a Hard Drive that doesn't get detached and then reattached regularly.

You can buy Windows XP, you can't download it.

If you can borrow the same version CD, you may be able to reinstall using the licence key you already have.

You could also try contacting Advent and asking for a replacement CD .......

As to installing on removeable media, that is not a good idea. Always install onto the hard drive of the PC.
