Hello,
I am using windows xp home edition on 3 home computers, connected by a d-link wireless  router. We use a broadband connection to the internet. On August 1, the internet explorer on all 3 computers, could not longer display my set home page. instead it  displayed"Cannot connect to webpage" . I  have my own website set as the home page. I called my server and they said they are having no problem with my website. I can view all other websites except mine. I called my isp: We checked the router by connecting the modem directly to  one of the computers...still could not connect to the website.  All technicians and friendds that I speak with, can view my website from their computers using internet explorer.
Here is the strange part. I CAN view my website if I use the aol browser.
I use contribute on one of the computers to edit my website. I cannot access the website through contribute either. I get the same error page. I have firefox and netscape and I cannot view it on these browsers either.
2 of my computers have norton antivirius and one has microtrend. (yes I have disabled these and tried again.)
All technicians so far have said it is a browser issue. Yet no one can pinpoint it.  On July 31 I was able to view it and then after shutting down the computers and restarting on August 1st I cannot view my site.
Any ideas would be of great help to me.
Thanks

It is unlikely that this is going to be on all three computers, but let's imagine it is. Things you can do:

1. Check the Hosts file and make sure that the web site address hasn't been added to it.

2. Go to Start/Run, type 'cmd' and at the cmd prompt flush  the dns using IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS.

You could also check the firewall of your router - does this have site blocking in it?
This is the only common point to all three, although if AOL browser gets through .....

Finally, if you have a software firewall, check that the site isn't blocked there either.

The one other common point is your ISP, and it's possible that they have a corrupt cache for your website.

HI Dave,
Thanks for replying. I have done the flush already with no results. I am thinking it is not the router because when I connected the modem directly to one of the computers, I still could not get the website. Strange!
Any suggestions on how to test if it is a corrupt cache on the isp?
Thanks

You'll need to contact your ISP for them to check their cache.
The cach is "supposed" to be renewed daily though.
