Hello, gavsmi.
Goto Start-->Control Pannel-->on the left hand side of the screen, under the words "Contol Panel" select "Switch to Classic View"-->now look for an icon with a name that is descriptive of your sound software/hardware i.e: "Silicon audio config", or the like. This should be what you are looking for.
Also, Silicon integrated systems are also known as "SiS".

Thanks Cache, all I found was one called Sound and audio devices, and in the sounds tab was one called sound playback with three options it was set on SiS 7018 wave, the other two were, modem#o line playback, andmodem#ohandset playback, like I've got no idea what these mean.

Do you have an icon called sound effects manager, as the one you have accessed is the generic windows system not the one for your soundcard/chip. I have an integrated realtek and it has it's own setting control. As another option do you have the driver disc for the soundcard, you could try a re-install of the driver.

Hello again Gavsmi,
Might be worth having a look to see if you have an icon in the tasks area at the bottom right hand corner of your screen (next to the clock).
There is sometimes an icon there that you can double click to access the sound manager.

Hi, if you have a microphone plugged in and its close to your speakers, it causes feedback, thus the reverb or echo sound. Just want to eliminate that just in case...

Hi can you please tell us when and how it started, and what you might have done before the echo started, to cause the echo.
Take your time and write everything down and what you have done so far, it could even be your speakers.
Take your time and get back to us again.
Also why not just log on to the general chat forum and meet some of the member, it is open to both men and women.

As Essexboy said above did you check "sound effects manager"?
Click on my computer/then control panel and look for "sound effects manager" Mine looks like this below, yours may be a bit different depending on your software. Make sure the environment (as ive pointed out in red) says none. Just to eliminate that aswell.

Do you know anyone who can help you, it sounds like a registry problem, but needs someone with exsperience to see to it.
Any why don't you try and find yourself an avatar or do you want me to find you one.
Mean while go and look in the general forum and have a chat.
