Just within the last few days every time I open a new window or a program in windowed mode it does not pop up in the center of the screen. It opens off in the top left corner where the top taskbar is out of reach. Is there a window position default i can reset? Or something I could add to the target line off an application to reset its postion?

Scroll down the page at kellys-korner, to line number 60. In the right hand column there is a listing for "Correct IE Window Placement" as a registry entry or VB script.
 Hope this helps.

One thing I have noticed is that if you close a window using the top right x it never remembers the position.  Try closing it by usin file>exit and see how that goes

All the windows are up in the left corner, so I cant hit the X or go to File.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\]
"Window_Placement"=-

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoSaveSettings"=dword:00000000

         , is the registry entry.

To use this registry fix follow these instructions

REGISTRY FIX
Quote
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\]
"Window_Placement"=-

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoSaveSettings"=dword:00000000



Next you will need to create the repair registry fix to do that copy and paste ALL of the above in the quote box to a notepad file.  Ensure there is no space above the Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
Then in notepad go to FILE > SAVE AS and in the dropdown box select SAVE AS TYPE to ALL FILES
Then in the FILE NAME box type fix.reg
This will create a fix.reg file on your desktop

To use this file you will need to right click the icon and select merge, accept the warning if it appears and you are done.
