McAfee is nearly impossible to cleanly uninstall....it just embeds so far into the registry and causes problems when you try to install a different brand (such as Norton or Trend Micro...Trend Micro btw is my fav Virus protector)...

550. you don't say. I ordered a pc online and configured it to come to me with no virus protection pre-loaded. but what did I get? mcafee was loaded and asking for registration. I called support 800# and was told that " by default we load that to protect your purchase. if you don't want it just uninstall it"yeah thanks for the protection! :roll:

If you uninstall it use the uninstall tool from mcafee not by add/remove otherwise you will leave a lot of garbage behind which may affect your new av
