message when I run CMD

Can anyone help : when I run CMD and type in ipconfig ( or even ipconfig/all) , and with one or two other CMD requests, I always get a message reading
"An internal error occured: a device attached to the system is not functioning.Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services for further help..."
Can anyone tell me if I can fix this...I have no MPSS support available to me as the product is OEM, and from IBM...and it would take a lifetime.

This might be due to a problem with Winsock. Try using LSP Fix to sort it out for you:
