f 8 to see optilons, I pushed F8 and several options were displayed, example start in safe mode, start normal, start using last good boot point, no matter which one I highlight it just goes back to the first screen

This could be due to a damaged Boot.ini file, and you will need a Windows XP disk to fix it. As you have a factory installed system, you are probably going to only have a recovery disk. Are you able to borrow a Windows disk?

Instructions for resolving the issue are here:

Foxwolf replied using email:

"I don't know any one who has an windows XP disc, I don't have any as this computer was given to me used.  Do you have any suggestions as to where or how to obtain an inexpensive disc/"

As I'm based in the UK, a Google search gives me UK results, but typically you should be able to find reasonable cost XP from places like Amazon or a PC parts supplier. Ebay is an option, but you should be careful about what you are buying - you want a genuine copy with a valid licence key.

It is always best to reply in the topic, we don't usually deal with problems on a  1:1  basis via email. That way solutions and advice are available for others to see.

E Bay can be a risk sometimes, but then again you can get want you want.
I just bought a car Yesterday.Absolute beauty,just as described,saved myself a fortune(£400 or more)
There is a seller doing XP SP2 disk sealed,with a 99% feedback,with over 8000 sales
You can't really doubt that's genuine.
