well i went from comodo 3 back to the standard windows firewall (because causing system insability) and now i cant seem to get on to say.... yahoo mail log in screen or to pandora, i thought it was too busy but then tryed it (the mentioned web sites) on another computer and works fine.

i looked around the fire wall settings and added firefox and ie to the allowed progarms list. (or some thing to that effect) and still no work

ps whats a good free blog site?

There's a few possible causes, have a look at the page below and scroll down to the section about XP troubleshooting for secure sites:

http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers/17.html

It might be due to MTU settings in your router. The page below gives detailed instructions on a tool to tweak the settings and how to do it:

ok i read though http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers/17.html and http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/tweak2.htm...

the first isnt quite my problem cause it seems like im adding things to a allowed list. my logic is i didn’t have to customize any setting initially. so why should i now? so is there any way i could reset ie and it would work?

the second site was way above my head

i hope that narrows it down a little for you  glupek2

ok so as you might have said resetting ie didnt work and i kind of realized this half way though cause im having the same problem with fire fox darn still stuck!

Try a long shot - reboot your router.

i shall do the router reboot how ever i don't think that will change any thing cause its hooked up to lots of other computers and no one else in the network has said any thing so i think its just this computer

sorry it seems im releasing details one at a time..... yathink

The connection has timed out

The server at login.yahoo.com is taking too long to respond.
  *   The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
          moments.

    *   If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
          connection.

    *   If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

im pretty sure its the last bullet where im having my troubles from but ill leave that to you guys... i will say that the hub computer has norton installed one it and in the past it had problems letting outlook get any new mail so perhaps thats the problem im gonna check my anti-mal-ware see if i can change any of my settings to get it to work

yea so i reset the router no change.... my thoughts are that since i used to have comodo. (i uninstalled by deleting all the files belonging to it; including some of the registry entry.... i may not have got them all, and windows fire wall, and the remnants of comodo are conflicting.) on wards to change some settings(if needed)

I'm at a bit of  a loss on what to suggest. I've read something recently about someone with a problem after removing Comodo - due to bits left behind.

As you've been 'playing around' with various settings etc you might have made it worse. (Hopefully not.)

You could try a system restore to before you removed Comodo and see if that allows you back into https sites.

You could also try updating Comodo to the latest version.
