A friend of mine works at a call centre, and has to start several programs when he starts work.

Is there a simple way to start 3 or 4 programs in one go? (ie, with one click)

He was told to "select" all the program icons, then click "open", but that's MORE work...

In the old days, I'd have written a DOS batch file, I'm not sure that works with 2000 or XP...

(I tried it, and it didn't for me...)

Thanks,
:)

Starting all the programs in one go could actually be a bad idea. Each program would be fighting for CPU access at the same time and could result in the system freezing at times.

He could put all the shortcuts into one folder on the desktop and launch them from there. (If he opened the folder and pressed Ctrl+A he could select all at once then double click.)

He could add them into startup to launch when Windows starts up. Not  a good idea due to the reasons above.

He could use a program like StartupDelayer to time when programs launch on startup. That may be the best option alongside adding the programs into startup.

Hmmm.  I see your point about overloading the CPU, it would be fine to load them sequentially, the Startupdelayer might be worth a go, except hePebbles

Sorry about previous post.  Got a bit garbled there.  Happy to start programs sequentially, no problem. Probably unable to "install" anything though...

Thanks for your thoughts though.
