Download WinPFind35u.exe  to your Desktop and double-click on it to extract the files. It will create a folder named WinPFind35u on your desktop.

• Close ALL OTHER PROGRAMS.
  
• Open the WinPFind35u folder and double-click on WinPFind35u.exe to start the program.
  
• Check the box that says Scan All User Accounts
  
• Check the Radio buttons for Files/Folders Created Within 90 Days and Files/Folders Modified Within 90 Days
  
• Under Additional Scans check the following:
• Reg - BotCheck
• Reg - Desktop Components
• Reg - Disabled MS Config Items
• File - Additional Folder Scans

• Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar.
  
• Let it run unhindered until it finishes.
• When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
  
• Click the Format menu and make sure that Wordwrap is not checked. If it is then click on it to uncheck it.

How is your computer running now ?

It was too big however, I saw evidence of an old Haxdoor infection there.  So I would like to run SDfix to ensure that it has all gone

 Start WinPFind35. Copy/Paste the information in the quotebox below into the pane where it says "Paste fix here" and then click the Run Fix button.


The fix should only take a very short time. When the fix is completed a message box will popup telling you that it is finished. Click the Ok button and Notepad will open with a log of actions taken during the fix. Post that information back here along with a new Hijackthis log

I will review the information when it comes back in.

Download SDFix[/color] and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

• Restart your computer
• After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
• Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
• Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  
• Choose your usual account.

• Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  
• Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  
• It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
• Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
• When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  
• Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
  (Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
  
• Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

Also let me know of any problems you encountered performing the steps above or any continuing problems you are still having with the computer.

My comp was working fine (before it conked out). MY laptop is gone nuts now. It is going dead slow. Okay, i know that 384 MB RAM and 1.6 GHz processor is slow, but this is beyond slow. And, arovax antispyware says it has found a malware named Hosts Hijacker, but it keeps coming after every result.

no it is not legitimate. i am going to change windows after 4-5 months. some loser techie did this to me.

News on comp. RAM shorted out, so i am buying a new one. Abt the laptop, anyways i am changing the Os within a week.

The first one is probably a splash screen and it's hiding the POST (Bios) screens as it starts up.

Just start pressing F8 as soon as it starts up. (F8 is usually to get to Safe Mode options, are you sure you don't mean F2 or F10?)
