igfxtray.exe is a process which allows you to access the Intel Graphics configuration and diagnostic application for the Intel 810 series graphics chipset.

SetRefresh.exe - a Compaq file that isn't crucial to running Windows. Removing it from startup may improve performance.

hkcmd.exe is installed alongside Intel multimedia devices and allows configuration and diagnostic options for these devices. This program is a non-essential.

Could I not have disabled this in Tune Up StartUp Manager? Oh, anyway, I removed it. And what in gods name is Altiris Local Recovery Agent? Ther is a problem. I uninstalled the HP Imaging thing, and the bad image thing is recurring.

The Altiris Local Recovery (ALR) software provides local-drive backup support by saving copies of files in a "snapshot" that can be easily restored should files be deleted or become corrupted. ALR also takes a snapshot of a user's system and settings so the system can be restored to any saved working state, while preserving current data files.

It's provided on a Compaq computer.

The printer problem is still recurring. Should I open a new thread?

My advice is - wait for Essexboy and get the basic system sorted first. Then deal with the printer.

For the time being, uninstall the printer and any associated software.

Your system looks good now.  Could you do as Dave suggests and uninstall - re-install the printer

Check a few things out before reinstalling the printer.

Is the system performance satisfactory?

Do your most used programs all work well?

If everything looks good - then try installing the printer and see what happens.

What is this screen? I need to disable this. This was not there before. It occurs after startup after BIOS.

It looks like your computer is trying to communicate with your printer

As well as making sure you have uninstalled every program associated with your printer, go into Control Panel/Printers & Faxes and make sure that you don't still have any printer showing. Delete if there is.

Also - make sure your printer isn't connected to the computer.
