To get back to the "offending" post as it may help some people as you originally suggested so here it is, and you have my fullest permission to move it to an appropriate place if you like.
What myself and Squeezebox were talking about were "redundant pixels" on my new monitor and here are the links that Sq kindly send to me. The first one is specifically for my monitor make, but refers to all monitors. The second link is a tiny zip file to check your monitor if you suspect you have the problem. Unfortunately mine has too many and has to go back for an exchange, and thanking Squeeze again for his help. Cheers, Strum.
