Why does ther not appear to be an option for polls anywhere on the forum - I was going to add one to General Discussion, but found that I can't. :(

Good question Floydoid. This is what the FAQ section says:

How do I create a poll?
Creating a poll is easy -- when you post a new topic (or edit the first post of a topic, if you have permission) you should see a Add Poll form below the main posting box. If you cannot see this then you probably do not have rights to create polls. You should enter a title for the poll and then at least two options -- to set an option type in the poll question and click the Add option button. You can also set a time limit for the poll, 0 being an infinite amount. There will be a limit to the number of options you can list, which is set by the board administrator

Doesn't look like we ordinary mortals have the option.

Yeah, I know what the create poll bit looks like in this kind of software, so I'm guessing I need a certain number of posts before being able to do so.

If you let me know what you want to add a poll for I will do it for you, unfortunately you cannot do it only mod's and admins can, so let me know anytime what you want one for and it will be added.

No thanks, I'd rather be able to sonstruct my own polls.

As a matter of interest, why is the option disabled?

That I do not know but will try and find out for you, but I believe it could be that you have to have Admin or Mod status.

I know on other sites you have to, if the option was enabled you could have (not saying you would have) members having polls all the time.

But will find out and keep you posted on it.

Jason,

I don't think that anyone had a poll in mind, just wanted the facility to start one. Maybe it could be establised that polls are by request?

Hi

For the 1st time I must go along with Nob. :PDT_Love_02:  It's treating your members as if they are imbeciles to have to request polls rather than letting them get on with it. Everything about this forum is different from a normal forum, especially the over abundance of smileys. :-P  Why can't everybody edit their own posts until a reply is added. Now such a fuss has been created about polls there'll probably be stupid ones posted and it serves you right Don. The 1st way to have a happy forum is to trust your members. If the odd 1 goes wrong it's easier to sort it out than have certain members feeling they are inferior

Peter,

Will try and sort it out but remember when you went to edit your post once and it went wrong, anyway I will try and as I have already said will try and get it so you can edit your own post  ok.

I try and help and please every one , but sometime it's a losing battle, a moderator,s job is not an easy one.

Hi there,

Sorry I'm a bit late on acting on this issue (been working and on my down time been assisting the programmer with installing the new fixmyxp.com site)

I am indifferent on this issue.  So, since you guys have a strong feeling about this setting, I decided to just change it.  All has been done so you should be able to start a poll...let me know if it doesn't work.
