DVD/CD Problem
«
on:

I have a new (3 month old) Toshiba Qosmio G20, c/w CDR & DVDR.
All was working fine up until about 1 month ago.
Now if I put in a data disk it reads it as a blank disk.
DVD movies still play, as do original DVD/Program/Game DVD's, but copied Data Cd's do not read.
Any suggestions?

Hi there Rex, Welcome to the forum...
Have you checked to see if there is was an update to the firmware? Do a Google search for "Firmware Toshiba Qosmio" .
Also, check your IDE Controllers (go to Device Manager-Start Run the type devmgmt.msc and hit enter). Click on the Plus sign (+) next to IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers and then whatever is listed (typically it will be Primary IDE Channel & Secondary IDE Channel), double click into whatever is listed and under the Advanced Settings Tab make sure that you are set to "DMA if available" . If you see one of these set in PIO mode then, more than likely that was causing your problem...
