Squeezy,
I notice you have 512k comme moi !! Do you use any of the messenger site, MSN, Yahoo, Skype to speak to people through a microphone with web cam...I was wondering if my inability to get sound is because I haven't enough broadband speed ? My webcam works FINE, but I can't hear people and they can't hear me when I use the microphone, although I do all the pre-tests and everything works ...can you throw any light on this please ? Many thanks .... Kate

I wish I could help you on this one Kate, but I don't have any mike on my system and have never used Skype etc. I use MSN and Yahoo Messenger without any problems though.
It might be worth seeking input from Kitz at you-know-where.

Kru
You could bone up on sign language, like that person in the corner of News24.
But seriously, do you use a separate mic or a built in one? And have you checked in the "volume control" applet that nothing important is muted?
A headset is supposed to be best with laptops.
