I had a problem with my Windows XP and did a lot of system
resores to solve it.  As a result, when I start WordPerfect 11
I get the following note:  Preparing to install.
Then I get the following message:

The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource
that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to folder
containing the installation package WP11SP1DWPP.msp
C:\DOCUME~1\VORAL123\LOCALS~1\Temp\{54F90B55-
BEB3-4F0D-8802-228822FA5921}_7582\

I did a search for WP11SP1DWPP.msp with no result.

When I do an update download, I get the same message.

I tried to remove WordPerfect 11 using Add or Remove
Programs with the same result.

It looks like a problem with Windows installer.

Can you explain what is happening.  I don't
understand it.

Try copying the entire Word Perfect CD to your hard drive and then run installation again from there.

It could be simply a CD that is a bit scratched or dirty.

A new wrinkle.  I just discovered that I can get around
the problem.  I can open existing WordPerfect files and
work on them.  If I want a new file I can copy an existing
file, clean it out, then use it for a new file, and be sure to
 rename it.
The problem occures when I try to open a new file by
clicking on a shortcut to WordPerfect 11.   I have Word Perfect 12
that works ok but it is not a shortcut.  Apparently I lost
something while I was doing system resotres.
I will search the program disc to see if something is
missing.    Jay Voral

Try restoring the correct shortcut to your desk top. (Delete the one that doesn't work.)

From the WordPerfect exe file, right-click, Send-to desktop (create shortcut).

Then you will have a working shortcut to a working program.

This is a just a temp file that was created with the WP prior to your restore.  It is conflicting.

All you need to do is clean out your temp folder.  Simply navigate to
C:/Documents and Settings/ VORAL123/Local Settings/Temp

(VORAL123 I could see from your post, is your username)

While it should be fine to delete everything in this folder...Unless you are having other problems, I would advise you to just delete the folder named: {54F90B55-BEB3-4F0D-8802-228822FA5921}_7582

Then WP should work fine...
