Do you think there is a hack to install that would let us alter each individual  thread subscription?

It can get a little anoying if I just post a few words in a thread then get bombarded with notification e-mails of posts that have nothing to do with the original thread and do not interest me.

So, again, would it possible to let us alter each individual  thread subscription? or do I have to just turn e-mail notification off?

Good question Cache - I wouldn;t have known about that if you hadn;t asked because I never use notifications - anywhere.

What's with all the points Jason?  Explainez vous.

So do I. But, you may notice a lot of threads around here go into 3, 4, 5 maybe even more pages of posts, yet it seems rare the thread stays on-topic past the first 4, 5 or so posts and the thread then becomes the latest meeting ground. It's not that I'm bothered about the dirction the thread is taken, it's the 2, 3, 4, 5 or so pages worth of e-mail notification that bugs me.

If I could change my thread subscriptions on a thread by thread basis I could filter out any e-mail notifications for threads that have out lived my interest, and so could anyone else, if they choose.

i said this ages ago... im not going searching for it but  is this about thread email alerts? if it is and i'm wit you on this, I would like when I get an alert that the response link should go straight to the last post in the thread. Is this what you mean?  On C/A one gets an email alert to the topic then one clicks on latest post... surely a little html should bring ud straight to thre last post in  a topic. I would like to see all posts in the topic also instead of the 1 2 3 4 5 etc. (taking into consideration dial-up users) Some lessons can be plaigIRISED form the CA site as far as the email alert goes. I'm making sense or talking through my arse?

You must have "Always notify me of replies:" set to "Off" in your profile, and instead tick the box for "Notify me when a reply is posted" when you post, right?

it may be possible that jason will beable to set the notifiers so that we only get one notifer for a forum at a time, unless you LOOK or POST...however, by all accounts that is what is happening to me !

Seems strange. Maybe the difference is the board skin? I wouldnt have thought that would make any difference though.

The thing is I want to "get a notifier for EVERY flippin thing thats posted " but I also want the ability to stop them.

Yes tit is very simple, Strum.

The problem for me is the profile options are too simple. Like you say, you can either subscribe or not; this however applies to all threads you have subscribed to. There is no option to un-subscribe from a single thread, which is what I would like.

I know this can be done with VB but I'm not sure about PHPBB.
