Hi all, When my desktop is open and I leave it for a few minutes and try to connect to IE im told I am off line and to try again which puts IE back on line.

I go through a router which is always on line. AVG can connect as can firefox. This Is an issue with IE somewhere along the line. I also have a laptop that does it on the odd occation But the main Pc is by far the worst.

LAN is empty of ticks workoff line isn't ticked, Is it a registry problem timing out?? Any light shed on this would be welcome..regards.

I am betting that this is being caused by a Internet Explorer Setting.   When SP2 came out there was some changes that were done to protect your computer from harmful websites.   Check in your "Manage Ad-On's" (under Tools) to see what you have Enabled and Disabled....I'm betting it is one of those.

The other possibility is that in your "Set Program Access and Defaults"  (start then Set Programs and Defaults.....also located in the Add Remove Programs on the left side there is a button for Set Programs and Defaults) that you have Internet Explorer Unchecked.  So your system is disallowing Internet Explorer Access...however since it is still on your computer, when you try to open it, that overrides the setting in Set Programs and Defaults.

Try those ....see if it fixes your problem
