Hi all, I just wondered [as I've been answering another topic] what everyones views are as to using an administators account for everyday use?.
I have only the one account set up [administrator type], I know a lot of people reccommend using a limited account for everyday use.

How many of you use a limited account set up  just for everyday use?.
and how many use it as I do.
I tried the other way but found it a hassle switching accounts everytime I needed to do things like installing & uninstalling programmes.

Dennis I just use the one [administrator account] never had no trouble, like you I would find it a hassle keep going from one account to another.

Ta for your input Don, that's what I think, if you've a good firewall AV and spyware checkers I think the chances of having problems are very slim.

Strum?


Strum if you have only one accouint and you set it up yourself then you are the administator and already using it.
Are you able to get into everything and change everything if your computer goes wrong if so then yes already admin.

Too much hassle to set up separate accounts especially when you download and try a lot of programmes then clean up the mess

I use an admin acount. I think it comes down to the users computing habits. For me (and others),  the impracticality of using a limited account would outweigh any secutiy benefits.

Alot of people though, only use ther computer every so often and rarely need to install new software or perform advanced administrative tasks. For these people a limited acount would be perfect.

One thing I'd like to point out  is that you don't have to actually logout of a limited acount then into anadmin account to install software. You can use the left-click "Run as" feature.

Indeed your right  

But there like a few down sides on having two accout if the set up is...

Admin accout/User Limited (Pass. Protected)

the Fav. under IE or... whatever browser yo use are not there. You have to Log-In in your Admin Accout and copy and paste towards the Fav. folder in the Limited Account as I had to do. Nothing bad there though. Easy and simple.
