I would like to report my success on correcting a problem I had with installing programs and getting this error message:

The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation paccage.
'WP11SP1DWPPP.msp' in the box below.
C:\DOCUME~1\VORAL123\LOCALS~1\Temp\{54F90B55-BEB3-4F0D-8802-228822FA5921}_7582\

I went on a solid three day bing pursuing any leads I could think of. I went hither and yan. I'll spare the details only to say it was a odyssey on the internet.  Many false leads while learning about what is out there. I even did a repair install and all that involves.

Just this morning of the 4th day I got up and decided to take a fresh look at the problem.  I then did what I could have done in the first place.  I did a search for network+resource windows+installer.  The led to a software maker that had the same problem that gave advice to its customers.  It refered to an  article from support.microsoft.com giving the solution.

It turned out I most likely deleted an installation registry file by using a register cleaner.  I have several and I don't know which did it.  It was not till much later that I recognized the problem and too late to try restoring the backup register files.  The article I found described a program titled Q238413 Windows Installer CleanUp Utility at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301.

It's a good thing I am retired and live alone.  I could devote a full three days to hunting down a simple solution to an agravating problem.  But I feel for those who have to work for a living and have little time for such things.  Getting technical help is dubious at best and can be costly.

Well now I feel better and can take a break and return to a better runing system to catch up on my things of interest.

That is strange.  I clicked on the web address on the fourm and got the same unavailable note.  I went back to my copy of the dialog I downloaded  to the form and clicked on the same address and got the web page.  From there is a download to get the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility with very well written instructions.  Its a handy thing to have for download and installation problems when using the Windows Installer.

I found the problem.  Remeber when working with computers there is no forgiveness for errors and never close enough.  Only right on works.
You will notice that at the end of the address is a period.  That period shows the end of a sentance.  I must have put it there habitually as for all sentences.  The computer does not see it that way and included it in the underlined address.
here is the addres set apart:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301

That should work.

Don't worry about it Jay, I've done similar things myself, as I'm sure most of us have.I've bookmarked it for future reference.
