Hi Strum,

Don't know why you should have any problems with FF - it's OK on mine. I've checked it with Opera and IE as well - all OK.

If you haven't tried Opera yet, it's worth a look.

Dave bloo*y browsers are doing my head in. I just copied the address for this page into firefox and got this...

then if I go to fixmyeEX with firefox this is what I get and its impossible to navigate. the links are all dead aswell...

Doing my head in.
I also never resolved why IE wont open certain sites and firefox will???

Doin' my head in... checked zonealarm, and the sites are allowed...all I can think of is that all cookies are blocked somehow because there is never a cache of cookies anywhere??? It may have something to do with  a program called CCleaner???

Sorry to do YOUR head in about this aswell!
Cheers

Oh dear Strum,

I believe it was Cache that told you to run CCleaner? And to let it clear out whatever it finds?  I have reservations about all registry cleaners (at least the free ones) because they can get carried away with themsleves and remove files that are needed.

Step 1 - try a system restore to before you ran CCleaner.

Step 2 - do an in-depth scan for viruses.
(Try downloading the demonstration version of NOD32 and use that to do the scan)   http://www.nod32uk.com/home/home.htm

You'll need to update NOD32 as soon as you have installed it. Don't forget to disable any other AV program you have installed.

NOD32 is about the best AV (paid for) there is.

See what the situation is after that.

Cheers Dave, I'll get on to that now. Ran AVG spybot, aware etc but system completely clean apart from 4 usable cookies. I really dont need ccleaner or registry mecanic do I? Reg macanic found 698 dodgy bits but would only clean 26 entries unless I pay for the full ver. What on earth is it finding? or as you say, is it being a little over zealous?

Perhaps I should have been more clear with my CCleaner advice. I didn't mean for you to do anything to your registry with CCleaner. I meant for you to clean out all the temp files it finds to make sure there was no infected files left in the prefetch folder and such.

EDIT: also, I think it's unlikely CCleaner would be the problem here. I use it all the time and have never had such problems.

I'm sure I remember you posting that pic of google going wierd before, Strum, what was the resolution then?

I run CCleaner no problem, strum download nod32 when I did found loads of viruses.

Also update on browsers netscape works all right with this site.

So now I have Opera, Firefox, Netscape and as I say all work no problem and still have IE6.

No bother Cache, my over enthusiasm I think cleaned literally everything from the pc but with no harmful effects at all. Just these browser problems. IE wont let me log in to certain sites wheras FF will? and I've had it up to here with going through settings...
