Just took a little time out there and everything is working just fine. I changed all the settings in IE explorer as advised and that did it. Also changed security from high (my paranoia!) to medium. All sorted and thank you gentlemen for being forever patient.

ps, any clues as what to safely click about with in advanced in IE explorer because I rember changing some things that are bothersome but don't know which now that its default settings again? ta

Glad you've got it sorted. I was hoping it would be your IE settings or firewall, if it wan't this could have gone on for some time I think.

Glad that's sorted now Strum.

Opera is good, I use it to browse forums now. It does a better job of loading pages on certain PHP boards than Firefox, plus it does a better job with images I need for one customer job that I have.

Now that the case is solved, I'm locking this topic, anyone with similart problems should start a new topic.
