Is there some reason why I have to log in each visit?  none of my other forums make me do this, they 'remember' me

fudgem, when you logged in originally did you not get the option to be 'remembered' ?    OR perhaps you have your browser set to clear cookies on closedown ?  I THINK that can affect it ....   have you just moved over to Opera (if you are who I think you are, you mentioned it at another place !? )  there is a 'wand' option which should automatically come on and ask if you want the wand to remember you on this site ...Hope this helps ...Kate

PS   If I'm right I think I could call you A.       If I'm not ..OOOPS

Yes, I did have the 'remember' box ticked, and for some reason it has just now  'remembered' me

Maybe our esteemed leader has tweaked it, or possibly just a coincidence.

Yes I am trying Opera, and I really like it on the whole.  Sometimes sites don't operate as they do in IE and you need to get plug ins, but the plug ins confuse me a bit as they don't seem to say which one you need for a particular site.  I'm getting there though

Thanks Windows, must get my eyes tested again.

By the way, I'm still having problems at log in, sometimes I'm remembered and sometimes not, not only that but I am invisible when browsing this forum, even after I've logged in manually

fudgem

I just checked and everything is configured properly on the site.  You need to make sure that you are not blocking cookies from this site.  Let us know if you know how to check that.

If you don't then let us know what browser you are using and one of us will respond with how to check to see if you are blocking cookies and how to fix if you are.

I'm using both IE and Opera to try and get the automatic log on so it would be helpful if you could let me have directions for both.

I certainly didn't do anything to block cookies, and all my other sites are working okay

In Opera, the option to "remember me" does not work, I always use the Wand facility to log in. I don't know if that's due to Opera or the board here.

Checking through Opera settings, I was unable to find a way to overcome it. Might be easier just to use the Wand function and settle for that. It's only one extra click.

I'm very new to Opera but when logging in manually you are then informed that CTRL+ENTER will work as well as the wand

Well I tried everything I knew to work the automatic log on, and finally decided to re register as someone else.  It now works, so I think I can safely assume its nothing on my computer which is blocking me?

I know that it wasn't a lot of bother to log on each time as fudgem, but I couldn't use the 'view posts since last visit' facility either because it showed all of them from the last week at least, and that was a nuisance, trying to remember what time I was on last.

Well that's an improvement.  It didn't remember me and I had to log in, but it did show the correct number of new posts.  Thanks

actually, I thought I set it correctly, but ended up disabling the board for a few minutes.  I have now fixed that and gotten the cookie settings fixed (supposively).  So if you tried to login a few mins ago, when I had the board down...the cookies might have not worked.  Anyhow, it is all fixed now (I think).  Let me know, k?
