Rename Master
is a free utility for renaming large groups of files with a few clicks. Anyone that has worked with websites, file archives, or collections of music, videos, or pictures has probably spent way too much time renaming hundreds of files.
Don't miss the demonstration movie of Rename Master in action. It's an excellent toutorial and can be found

I found this in Fred Langa's news letter and thought I'd pass it on:
Quote
Google keeps growing, and spinning off tools and sub-tools that can be enormously helpful:
Fred, I found a service running on my Windows XP Pro workstation when I checked via MSConfig.... So I thought I'd check google for possible problems and found that google has added a special lookup page devoted to Microsoft sites.

Microsoft Internet Explorer is no longer needed for Windows Updates.
You can now use
WINDIZUPDATE
This free website allows users of
Mozilla Firefox 0.9.3
,
Netscape 4.0
,
Mozilla Firebird 0.7
,
Opera 5
,
Flock
, or
K-Meleon 0.9
,
to keep their copy of Windows up-to-date.

My computer is already up-to-date!
There are some
Restrictions
and
Issues

There are many
Good Reasons
for using this website to keep your system up-to-date:
There are also a few
Disadvantages
.
In my opinion, the many obvious advantages far outweigh the few disadvantages unless the update is for a
serious security issue.

A-ToolBar
The ultimate internet and desktop tool.
It brings you 50 useful tools in one program.
A-ToolBar
has NO spyware or adware.
You can easily add new search engines in the search list.
No technical knowledge is needed.
It's also nice to note that
A-ToolBar
has been awarded the
Softpedia "100% Free" Award
You can download it directly from
HERE
It's also available from
MySharedFiles
This is the only Too lBar I have installed on my system and it's a real timesaver.
I have to admit, I don't think I'll ever use all 50 functions built into it.
:)

Compare Yahoo and Google Search results
Since Google and Yahoo use slightly different criteria in their search engines,
it's helpful to search them both. This search engine does just that.

Well done Bob, you put a fair bit of work into that list above!
Can you tell me if there is some way of copying just parts of a dvd? for instance a friend of mine is playing live in the middle of a compilation dvd, and I want to chop his set out of it and store it on its own. The only video software I have is windows movie maker.
OR
is there a way of capturing just that section while it plays?
Thanks for any help.

Hi Strum
Unfortunately what you're looking for isn't possible in Movie Maker and I haven't found any Free programs to do this task either.

Love that song but don't know what it is?
Tunatic can tag it for you!
Full details and downloads are available
HERE
Their database of song titles is constantly being updated. It doesn't have all the answers but,
when you don't have a clue, Tunatic is handy to have around.
Enjoy

ERUNT - The Emergency Recovery Utility NT
=========================================
Registry Backup and Restore for Windows NT/2000/2003/XP
Windows 9x/Me automatically create backups of the registry at startup.
Unfortunately, this is not the case with Windows versions based on the
NT kernel.
In Windows NT and 2000, the registry is never backed up
automatically, and in XP it is backed up only as a function
of the System Restore program.
If you're like me and have System Restore turned off, then your registry
In Windows XP will not be backed up.
Using ERUNT solves that problem and gives you a restorable registry.
Here's a neat trick:
Before installing a new program for testing purposes one could
save the registry with ERUNT, install and test the program, uninstall
it and restore the registry to be 100% sure that no debris is left.
Full details and download links are available
