I got an alert about "Last checked Hi" which looked a bit dodgy and was not sure so I blocked it. It seems that it had to do with windows update, and now when I open IE it goes straight to ms update site. The homepage (google) is still the same in settings and I can just click on the home icon to go there, but I would like to restore it back to the way it was, but I cannot find a setting that will let me restore. The screenshot is all I can show to determine what happened.
Thanks,

Strum,

I'm not too sure about this one, "LastcheckedHi" appears in many HJT logs that have been posted, but I didn't find anything to indicate this was a problem.

I am guessing a bit, but I wonder if your system had an auto-update check interrupted and Windows wants to finish the job. Try running update through Start/All Programs/Windows Update and let it complete the job.

Might be alright after that.  Unless Jason comes along with another idea ....

As always, thanks.

I just wanted to try it a bit before answering for sure, but that certainly appears to have sorted it Dave. There were no updates for me but just linking to the page worked.

cheers!
