I am with NTL, for my sins, and just wondered if any fellow sufferers had any info re the proposed free broadband upgrade from 1 mb to 10 mb, supposed to happen this Spring

I'm with them and I'm just happy when I have a connection at all.

The last time I had to have an engineer out, I was without the internet for over a week, three times waited in and three times he didn't turn up.  I went absolutely ballistic and one then turned up twenty minutes later.

Since we have their telephone as well it would mean changing back to BT to go to another server, and to be honest, when it is working I'm very happy with it, no download limits and very fast.

I am in the same Catch 22 position, BB and phone for around £28 per month and I love the new no download/upload limits. I just wondered if anybody had been upgraded to the 10 mb service yet ?

One thing you should be aware of is: in some parts of the UK, 10Mbps downstream is not possible with the current hardware BT uses. So, no matter how fast your ISP dish out the bits -- you can only download as fast as your BT lines can handle. Although I believe BT are due to upgrade all their hardware this year, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that to happen, lol.

I know you won't believe this Gordon, but I've just had an engineer out because of my lost internet connection, (turned out to be a fault in the box in the street).  but I totally forgot to ask him about the upgrade, just remembered after he was gone

That happens to me as well. In my case I think it's called a senior moment as in ~ An elderly couple had dinner at another couple's house, and after eating, the wives left the table and went into the kitchen.

The two elderly gentlemen were talking, and one said, "Last night we went out to a new restaurant, and it was really great. I would recommend it very highly."

The other man said, "What's the name of the restaurant?"

The first man knits his brow in obvious concentration, and finally said to his companion, "Aahh, What is the name of that red flower you give to someone you love?

His friends replies, "A Carnation??"

"No. No. The other one" the man says.

His friend offers another suggestion, "The Poppy?"

"Nahhhh, growls the man. You know the one that is red and has thorns."

His friend said, "Do you mean a rose?"

"Yes, Yes that's it. Thank you!" the first man says.

He then turns toward the kitchen and yells, "Rose, what's the name of that restaurant we went to last night?"   :crazybouncy:
