This was so good that I had to write up an article on the main page letting people know about Windows Defender. For those of you who have downloaded this and ran into a problem with updating your definitions, check out the article for how to fix this problem. http://www.fixmyxp.com/content/view/123/1/ Thanks again Essexboy for posting this....

I like it, now it runs as a background service you don't even know it's running. Took me 15 minutes to convince myself it actually was working. No more annoying popups when I run reg defrag or 1 off items go into my run once registry eg bootscan with AV. A full scan is slow about 20 mins but it does look into archives, I don't think any other spyware does that, but a quick scan took 50 seconds. Nice interface but I can't yet find the mui delete function (cleartracks in MS antispy)

Thanks xp, but of course I'll now have to make sure its updated. All links and descriptions are currently accurate and I am playing around with a few more programmes before I add them. If they are no good they don't appear

OK first problem with defender. Got an auto update this morning but failed to install, did a reboot still failed to install. Rush of blood to the head stopped the defender service in control panel - admin tools - services. Clicked to install update and it worked.. This may be system dependant and you may have no problem, but if you do try what I did and see if that works..

Yep I like it unobtrusive but beavering away, as an additional I found that when it is auto updating the little castle appears in your sys tray for a moment or two, then gets a green tick and goes away. Neat
