In what way does your monitor not shut down? Do you still have something displayed on the screen? If so, what?

NOTHING  on the screen, just that the pc. itself shutdown normally but the monitor goes from off to power save mode over and over again never shutting down completely. other times the pc. shuts and the monitor shuts down at same time, the way most comp. do. could it just be that its time for a new monitor,i iam running on a crt mitubishi diamondpoint sb70. seems nowadays everyone else as a lcd,do i need to upgrade with the times?

the next time it doesn't shut off unplug it from the PC. If it shuts then you know its a PC problem If not then your monitors the problem.
