Welcome to FixMyXP.com!  From the title of the site, I'm sure that you guessed that this is a site that will have information on troubleshooting Windows XP, and you would be correct.  To start off, I have launched the forum, you can check it out here.  Over the next few weeks and months, I am planning on adding Windows XP Guides, Tutorials, Tweaks & News.

As a self proclaimed computer guru, I have a lot of knowledge, specifically on Windows XP, my experience is both school taught and self taught, I went to the Univ. of Wisconsin - River Falls, where I majored in Mathematics and Minored in Physics.  I took many courses, but I would say that most of my knowledge came from actually hands on work.  I have 7 years of experience now under my belt.  A few years back I took  my "hobby" to a different level, by starting to build new PC's and repair older PC's.

Hi .. I was trying to download Norton 2008 ..it took awhile but it finnally downloaded.Now I'm trying to download Norton ghosts and it keeps asking me to insert disk..I'm getting pretty P--Ohh. its in there and wont download and another thing i cant burn nothing to disk like my pictures and music it keeps telling me to insert disks when all of them are Brand new with nothing on them I'm so frustrated can you help...many Thanks ...Roger.C

I am trying to un install windows media playere. I think it has a virus. I wnt to add and remove programs. I had media player 11 and when I pressed uninstall it tol me it would revert back to the previous player. Now I have version 10 and it does not show up in add/remove programs again. I went to program files and tried to delet it there and a diaglog box popped up and said it could not remove because media player was running on another program and I needed to stop it. ??
What to do.
I cleaned up my start up program files and also used a commerscial registry cure program to clean things up

How to fix BSOD. i don't have a xp or recovery cd. The screen mentions a registry file being missing or corrupted.

When opening Tools and Internet Options I get the following message. "This
operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this
computer.Please contact your system administrator". I have used Internet
Options before and don't recall changing anything. I am the only user on
this machine running XP. What did I do?

hi my computer always says that i've got illigal xp software on my computer (witch is true) when i start up.
after wich it asks me if i want to chans to legal soft ware this "popup" slows my pc doun could you tel me how i cold somhow delete this warning?

my sencond problem infolves my internet becos lik every half an hour i get an explorer pop up of some sort of firus scanner witch wants to install itselve on my computer pleas help me delete it coz im really desperate with this one.

When i tried to uninstall or install a program an error report will pop up, and i cant install or uninstall the program. the error says:
msiexec.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

ok, my sister deleted somehting important, and ever since then we havn't been able to enter the acual computer. It just brings up this black screen with some number and saying something about a failer. Please help!??
