Stop: 0X0000008E

Post by lotto212 » Tue Jun 19, 2007 5:51 pm

When booting, I received the following error message:

Stop: 0X0000008(0XC0000005,0X8064641A,0XF34BB660,0X00000000)

Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Thanks
Joe

Hi have you overclocked your CPU as this is normally a temp/read problem

The above link might help you, if you have an Intel processor it has a link for the Intel diagnostic and further exploratory tools
VISTA
XPsp2
Avast (of course)

I would expect to see other information after the Stop: error code. This may point to what the problem is. It could be hardware, it could even be the hard disk failing.

You could try it in safe mode, if all works well that way (no blue screens) then a repair install might solve things.

Memory is another common cause, you might lie to download Memtest86 and copy it to a CD or floppy. Boot up to the CD/Floppy and let Memtest do several passes to test your memory.
