Clock No Longer Updates Itself

Post by XPAlan » Thu Nov 08, 2007 2:31 pm

For years my SysTray (XP Pro) clock automatically updated itself, but in the past few weeks it no longer does, and when I try the UPDATE NOW myself I get an error ("An error occurred while Windows was synchronizing with time.windows.com").  That's the same error XP displays when it tries the clock Update automatically.

I tried switching to time.nist.gov, but I got the same error.

I'm using the same NAV I've used for 7 years, and the standard built-in Windows Firewall.

I've not touched any setting for these in years.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks for any help!

Alan

This happens quite a lot, and some of the 'solutions' offered are a bit confusing.

The simplest explanation I found was:

http://www.softwaretipsandtricks.com/wi ... indows.com

But, you might need to find another time server, so you could try one of these:

time.mit.edu

tick.usno.navy.mil

tock.usno.navy.mi

(All US servers)
