JAVA thinks its installed, but its not!

Post by wanabe » Tue Nov 04, 2008 12:28 am

basically when i try to install java in firefox or ie (to play chess at ) i get the same message box that reads:

"java setup"

! this software has already been installed on your computer.
would you like to reinstall it?

yes no

when i click no obviously the window closes and nothing if i click yes....

"windows installer" .....a new small window opens up on top of the previous one reads:
! this action is only valid for products that are currently installed

i am getting the .exe from the, ~sun java micro site~ the official one, promise

and then the circle starts...... "first message ... than second" over and over....

in addition i use "auslogics boost speed" 4.000.44 to be anal retentive about my p.c. clutter. and the registry clean up feature seemingly freezes my computer but the program does function excellently otherwise.....i did have a virus...sadly i deleted it before i wrote the information down, bad move on my part...but this problem i think was here before the virus was, i have tried emailing java the company but have received no reply....

"why is it, that who ever actually does work, are the people that actually get stuff done in their life..... i wonder...." blasted, lazy, bureaucrats!

any thoughts.....
